46, A Piece of Pie, And the Men who Refuse to Settle

Yesterday I celebrated turning 46. I was overwhelmed with the love and support I received. Jessica and the girls showered goodness on me. I even paused a 30 day detox to enjoy a piece of homemade Dulce de Leche Banana Cream Pie. I share the following from a posture of gratitude and I want to encourage you wherever you are on the journey, to hold fast.

This past weekend Jessica and I taught the hidden principles that have forged our 21+ marriage in what we are calling the IntimacyOS Marriage Workshop. It was powerful to integrate deep identity work into uncovering the next level of intimacy for couples. Then on Sunday I had the joy to preach and be introduced by my nephew. I was overwhelmed. He said, "I heard my uncle preach about Jesus when I was 10 and I knew that is what I wanted to give my life to as well." First time I ever heard him say those words.

Yesterday hit me in unexpected ways. I love my work. My marriage is on fire. I have four amazing girls. The presence of Jesus is very near everyday. I wrote in my journal earlier this week that it feels as if the Lord is restoring to me all that was stolen and what the locust had eaten. I am a witness to seeing the goodness of God in the land of the living.

I have been working on getting Champion Husband Challenge published. I heard from a partnering publishing company that they want to work together to get the book out into the world. Crazy!

I told one of my clients that it boggles my mind that I get to do what I love and spend time with people I love everyday. Deep conversations with faith driven men. Talking about the the things that matter most. Then the men in The Arena Brotherhood sounded off on our group text and hit me again. My life is full and alive in ways that I deeply grateful to God for this season. Then later on in the afternoon I got a text from a high capacity man telling the truth that he needs help taking his marriage to the next level.

Why does this matter for you? Because I see too many men settling and coasting into mediocrity at mid-life. Fitness. Parenting. Marriage. Work. Dreams. Quiet settling. And at the same time I am surrounded by men who are pursuing the deep work who are actively participating in receiving everything that God wants to give.

The Kingdom only operates through those who are receptive. Jesus in his great kindness towards you will always invite you closer. It is your choice to listen and receive. This is why Jesus asked over 300 questions. This is why we see Scripture say to ask, seek, and knock. And the most obvious is the story about seeds falling on the ground. Good soil or hard soil.

You get to choose your level of receiving and working the soil of your life.

This is one reason I created The Arena Brotherhood. It has become the ongoing highlight of my work. And it is one place I will continue to pour energy into growing. The Arena is a brotherhood of men who are choosing not to settle. They show up day in and day out to do the deep interior work that leads to a stronger marriage, better fitness, and clarity at work.

The doors only open a few times a year and are currently open. I would like to invite you to apply for a limited seat at the table. The table is created for men who know their is a real spiritual battle that is seeking to kill, steal, and destroy Godly men, their marriage, and real freedom. If you want to apply schedule a 15 minute phone call.

Thank you for entrusting me to serve you. If I can be useful to you please reply to this email or better yet if you have my phone number call me.

I am honored by your presence reading these emails, listening to the podcast, and supporting the work on LinkedIn. I read every email that comes back and I am deeply grateful for you.

This work is not for the half-hearted.

Be Strong,

Lantz Howard

PS. August 21 was the last time I was on Facebook or IG. I got on today to do a few things on marketplace. Pay attention to the places in your life that are draining joy, aliveness, and connection.

PSS. I would love to have you in The Arena. Doors open for limited time.

A Mechanical Bull and Marriage Will Test Your LimitsI asked the operators if the mechanical bull was open for adults or only the teens. Every man is always asking, “Do I have what it takes?” I knew this was my test for the day. Moments later I had the Tim McGraw song in my head…”I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named…”I grabbed the rope tightly and clamped my knees down. Then I felt the slight shift in my groin and knew immediately I had an injury. I kept riding so I would not be exposed. Instead...

There is great polarity that exists when talking to men about emotions. It’s not a novel concept, but I believe it is one that needs more attention in leadership circles were men tend to lean on their knowledge and facts. Here are the most common ways I hear it. “I don’t have emotions.” “I’m not emotional.” “I have to keep going.” I want to sound the alarm. This is not how we are designed. It does not take long to notice male loneliness, depression, suicide, gambling, addictions, and...

Our words carry significant weight. Our tongue is like a rudder on a ship, as James says, small but powerful. I believe one of the primary principles of having a high-performing marriage is trust. The foundation of trust is being a consistent person who lives by the standard of your word. Trust is using your words to help establish a future desire or reality. Jesus makes it clear from Matthew 5:37 how simple integrity needs to be, and it starts with a simple yes or no. And the book of wisdom...
