Three Reasons Why I Called About Blood Test this Week

A decade ago, we welcomed our fourth girl into the world and I was 20lbs overweight.

Although I did CrossFit 3-5x week, ran a marathon, and did many triathlons in that season, but my nutrition was trash.

It caught up with me when I saw myself in the mirror and realized I did not look like the man I wanted to be.

Now at 45, having lost my dad a little over two years ago to poor health, I think often about the life I want when I grandchildren.

So when I drove past Any Lab Test earlier this week, I made the phone call about a blood test.

To inquire about three things:

  • Having a deeper look at early disease and heart optimization.
  • Inquire about tumor markers for early cancer screening. (My dad had breast cancer when he was in his 40’s)
  • Ask about women’s health options for my wife.

Why does this matter?

I have been granted one body to steward well.

Because this is the temple I have been entrusted with.

Because where else do your heart, mind, and spirit reside?

Yes. Only in your body.

We eat really clean now. I follow my personalized DNA plan, maintain an average BMI of 12-15%, work out 5x a week following CrossFit Linchpin for 6 years now with over 1684+ completed workouts, many Spartans finished, and planning on Hyrox for 2026.

Even with optimal fitness and nutrition now, I still want to elevate my potential.

It topped out at 120 mph and friends today recall our memories together of doing “j-turns” that I secretly learned by watching Secret Service videos. (My first vocational ambition was to be a pilot for them.) The governor kept me alive, but I never dared remove it to see what the car was truly capable of....
